We made twelve products. A candle in unglazed stoneware. A waxed canvas tote with brass hardware. A notebook with no lines and no grid. A ceramic bowl in bone white. A merino crewneck in graphite. A linen tea towel, hemmed by hand. A cast iron trivet in the shape of nothing in particular. A leather bookmark that develops a patina over years. An aluminum tray for the small things that need a place. A deck of playing cards printed in one color. A brass desk magnifier on a weighted base. A wool blanket milled in Wales from undyed British fleece.

We made them with makers in Japan, Portugal, Wales, England, France, and the Basque Country. Each product was developed over months. Each material was chosen because it was the right one, not because it was the best one. Those are different criteria, and the difference matters, though I have never been able to explain it in a way that satisfies me completely.

We opened the shop. We closed the shop. The interval between the two was brief. The products remain. They are in my apartment, in my kitchen, on my desk, on my bed. They are being used, which is what they were made for. They are not for sale, which is not what they were made for, but which turned out to be true anyway.

We wrote a newsletter. Six issues, November 2025 through April 2026. The newsletter contained no products for sale, no promotions, and no announcements. It contained what I was thinking about. It still arrives on the first of each month. It is the only thing on this site that remains open.

We had a waitlist. 4,200 people joined. We did not contact them. The waitlist was not for a reopening. It was for the experience of waiting. We felt this was worth offering. It is now closed.
